Cookies, web beacons and other technologies

As mentioned above, we collect information from your visits to our websites and from your use of our Nozama software products and services to compile statistics on usage and effectiveness, personalize your experience, customize our interactions with you, and improve our products and services. To do this, we use a variety of technologies, including scripts, tags, local shared objects (Flash cookies), local storage beacons (HTML5) and cookies.

What are cookies and why are they used?

A cookie is a piece of information that a website can send to your browser that may be stored on your system as a tag that identifies your machine. Although cookies are typically used only to measure website usage (such as number of visitors and length of visit) and effectiveness (such as what topics are of most interest to visitors) and to facilitate navigation or use and, as such, are not associated with any personal information, they also serve to personalize a known visitor’s experience on a website by being associated with their profile information or user preferences. Over time, this information is converted into valuable knowledge to enhance the user’s experience.

When a third party presents its products/services on a Nozama website, Nozama may generate anonymized aggregated information and share it with the third party to find out how many users have interacted or shown interest in its products/services.

Cookies are typically categorized as “session” or “persistent” cookies. Session cookies help you navigate the website efficiently by recording your progress from page to page so that you are not prompted for information you have already provided during the current visit, or information needed to complete a transaction. Session cookies are stored in temporary memory and are deleted when the web browser is closed. Persistent cookies, on the other hand, store user preferences on current and subsequent visits. They are saved on the device’s hard drive and remain valid when you restart the browser. We use persistent cookies, for example, to record your choice of language and location.

How to express privacy preferences related to the use of cookies

When visiting our websites or online services, you may be able to set your preferences regarding cookies and other similar technologies using the options and tools available to you through your browser or Nozama. If Nozama has implemented a cookie manager, this will be displayed on your first visit to our website. If you click “Cookie preferences” in the footer of a Nozama website, you can choose and change at any time what types of cookies you would like our NOZAMA websites and services to use. You can indicate your preferences for mandatory cookies, mandatory and functional cookies and personalization cookies. You can also find more information about the types of cookies used here. The use of cookie preferences does not entail the deletion of cookies that are already on your device. You can delete cookies that are already on your device through your web browser settings.

Although Nozama’s websites and platform services do not currently recognize automated browser signals related to tracking mechanisms, such as “do not track” instructions, you will usually be able to indicate your privacy preferences regarding the use of most cookies and similar technologies through your web browser. Look in your browser under the “Tools” heading (or a similar heading) for information about cookie control. In most cases, you can set your browser to notify you before you receive a cookie, giving you the option to accept it or not. You can also generally set your browser to always turn off cookies. Cookies in our software products can be disabled in the product itself. Because cookies allow you to take advantage of the features of our websites or our Nozama software products and services, we recommend that you leave them turned on. If you block, disable or refuse cookies, you may not be able to view some web pages correctly.

Web beacons or other technologies

Some Nozama websites, Nozama platform services and software products also use web beacons or other technologies to better tailor those websites to provide better customer service. These technologies may be used on numerous pages of Nozama’s websites. When a visitor accesses these pages, a non-identifiable notice of that visit is generated that may be processed by us or our suppliers. These web beacons often work in conjunction with cookies. If you do not want cookie information to be associated with your visits to these pages or your use of these products, you can disable cookies in your browser or on the product itself, respectively. If you disable cookies, web beacons and other technologies will still detect visits to these pages, but will not be associated with the information stored in cookies.

For more information about the technologies used by our Nozama services and software products, including how to disable them, please refer to the user guide for the particular Nozama software product or service you are using.

We use Local Shared Objects, such as Flash cookies, and local storage, such as HTML5, to store content information and preferences. Third parties with whom we partner to provide certain features on our website or to display Nozama advertising on others’ websites based on your web browsing activity also use Flash cookies or HTML5 to collect and store information. Some browsers may offer their own management tools to remove HTML5.

We may include web beacons in marketing e-mail messages or newsletters to determine whether the messages have been opened and the links they contained clicked.

Some of our partners set web beacons and cookies on our website. In addition, third-party social media buttons may record certain information, such as IP address, browser type and language, time of access, and the addresses of the websites from which you came to our site. Even if you are logged into these social media sites, they may also link such collected information to your profile information on that website. We do not control these third-party tracking technologies.

Online advertising

Nozama does not serve third-party online advertising on our websites, but we advertise our products and services on the websites of others. Please review the privacy policies of these website operators or network advertisers to understand their advertising practices, including the type of information they may collect about your Internet usage.

Some of the advertising networks we use may be part of the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) or European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA).

Interested parties may opt out of receiving targeted advertising sent by NAI or EDAA member advertising networks through the tools provided by visiting the following sites:

  • Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA)
  • Network Advertising Initiative (NAI)
  • European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA)

In addition, we work with third parties to manage our advertising on other websites. These third parties may use cookies and web beacons to collect information, such as your IP address, about your activities on Nozama or other websites in order to provide you with customized Nozama advertisements.

Links to non-Nozama sites and third-party applications

To enable you to interact with other websites where you may have accounts (such as Facebook and other social media sites) or join communities on such sites, we may provide you with links or integrated third-party applications that allow you to log in, post content or join communities from our websites.

We may also provide you with general links to non-Nozama websites.

Your use of these links and applications will be subject to the privacy policies of third parties, so you should familiarize yourself with those policies before using these links or applications. Nozama is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these other websites.

Notification of changes

We may update this Privacy Statement periodically to reflect changes in our data governance practices. The revised Privacy Statement will be posted here with the updated revision date. We encourage you to check back periodically to see if there have been any changes or updates. If we make a material change to our Privacy Statement, we will post a notice at the top of this page for 30 days. By continuing to use our Web sites after such revision, we will consider that you have read and understand the changes.
